WHAT IS EMS?

Electrical Muscle Stimulation training involves wearing a special suit equipped with electrodes that are placed over major muscle groups. These electrodes deliver low-level electrical impulses, causing your muscles to contract involuntarily, a process that mirrors the natural actions of our central nervous system that occur during traditional exercise.

The EMS suit enhances the efficiency of the workout by engaging a larger percentage of muscle fibers compared to conventional training methods. EMS training can improve strength, endurance, muscle tone, and aid in weight loss.

When you engage in a standard workout, your brain sends electrical impulses to stimulate certain muscle fibers. EMS technology can be customizable to tailor the exact stimulus and intensity, which kicks it up a notch by directly sending electrical impulses to your muscles and causing them to contract, this allows you to achieve results in a shorter time and cause less strain on your muscles and reduces the risk of injury.

EFFECTIVENESS OF EMS:

EMS is 20 times more intense than conventional strength training methods. A 20 Min EMS sessions burns 20-30% more calories and can increase strength and speed performance by 20-40% making it a time-efficient option.

When it comes to the frequency and duration of EMS sessions, less is often more (1 to 2 times a week). A 20 min session provides an intensive work out that can equate to hours of conventional training.

THE HISTORY & SCIENCE BEHIND EMS

EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) has roots in medical and therapeutic applications, dating back to the 18th century when Luigi Galvani, an Italian physician, discovered that electrical impulses could stimulate muscle contractions in frogs' legs. This discovery laid the groundwork for understanding the relationship between electricity and muscle movement.

The science behind EMS revolves around the principle of using electrical impulses to trigger muscle contractions. These impulses mimic the signals that the central nervous system sends to muscles during voluntary movements. By applying electrical stimulation directly to the muscles, EMS bypasses the central nervous system and induces muscle contractions involuntarily.

In the 20th century, EMS technology found applications in rehabilitation and physical therapy settings for muscle rehabilitation and strengthening. Over time, EMS devices became more sophisticated, leading to their adoption in sports training and fitness programs. The modern history of EMS training for fitness purposes can be traced back to the 1970s and 1980s, primarily in Eastern Europe, where it was used to enhance athletic performance among elite athletes, especially in sports like gymnastics and weightlifting. Since then, EMS training has gained popularity worldwide, with advancements in technology making it more accessible and versatile. The scientific literature on EMS training supports its effectiveness in various applications, including muscle strength and hypertrophy, rehabilitation, and improving athletic performance.

KEY BENEFITS OF EMS

bolt white.png

Efficiency

You achieve faster results in a shorter period of time

bolt.png

Strength

Increases muscle strength by inducing muscle contractions, which leads to improved muscle function and growth

bolt white.png

Endurance

Enhances muscle endurance, allowing individuals to sustain physical activity for longer periods without fatigue

bolt.png

Muscle Tone

Improves muscle tone and definition by promoting muscle growth and reducing body fat

bolt white.png

Rehabilitation

EMS stimulates muscles that are weakened due to injury or disuse, helping to maintain muscle mass and function during the recovery process

Injury Prevention

Strengthening muscles and improving balance, can reduce the risk of injury and improve muscle stability & joint support

bolt white.png

Posture Improvement

Strengthening muscles and improving muscle balance, can help correct postural imbalances and promote better posture

Sports Performance

EMS improves Speed, Agility, Power, and Strength which helps improve sport  performance.

Increased Metabolic Rate

Activating and increasing muscle growth, allows you to speed up your metabolism and burn more calories even when you are at rest

VO2 Max

Since EMS increases oxygen, this contributes to increasing aerobic exercise and endurance

bolt white.png

Range of Motion

EMS helps develop range of motion, flexibility and power

Body Fat & Weight Loss

EMS amplifies weight loss efforts both directly and indirectly increasing your metabolic rate

bolt white.png

Muscle Activation

EMS activates a higher percentage of muscle fibers. The body normally recruits muscle fibers sequentially, only activating the minimum needed to conserve energy.

Enhanced Core Stability

A strong core is the foundation of all movements, this allows us to generate force, balance and improves posture

Reduces Pain & Relaxes

EMS relaxes muscles and reduces muscle spasms, which are the common sources of pain. By improving blood circulation and delivering oxygen and nutrients to the muscles, this promotes healing and reduces pain
